not to mention that not all DMs find it acceptable.Ĭlawed her way out of one of the more hellish planes of existence after being sent there in a queen/noble's place. I'm open to refluffing traits too, but only so far. B strikes me as a nice balanced approach since it allows you to take useful traits without being heavily restricted by your character's backstory while at the same time still informing who they are. Coming up with a fleshed out backstory is often the harder part of making a character for me, and at this point in Pathfinder's life span traits have ceased being "minor bonuses based on your backstory" and have become a potentially powerful element of your build. I normally do either A or B, and historically it's most often been A, but I think B is better unless you already have most or all of your backstory in mind when you start on your character. Actually, on the subject of traits, which of the following better describes how you normally pick your traits?Ī) You come up with a backstory for your character and then pick traits accordingly.ī) You pick traits before finishing your backstory, letting your choice of traits give you ideas for your back story.Ĭ) You just take whatever traits you want for your build and ignore any fluff or backstory requirements they imply.
